"contemporary address" is a critical reflection on socio economics' impact on cultural life and movement in urban space. It materialized as a two-sided gesture that centered around the poem "bygninger" (buildings) by author Lea Løppenthin on the condition of a specific house. the gesture served as a marking on the demolishing of a specific building, HCØ Hus, housing artist's workshops and a gallery being transformed into a supermarket and a parking facility.
the first sentences from Løppenthin's poem was written on the facade of HCØ Hus and remained a "noisy" gesture til the house was torn down. the sentence translates:
we need buildings for those laborious bodies
that every morning must understand their work
apartments
loved ones
over again
visual artist Marie Thams created a conceptual piece consisting of 300 letters addressed to the house with Løppenthin's "bygninger" inside for the final show at HCØ Hus. audience in the exhibition space was invited to take a letter home with them and send it to the address after the house was gone.
